Review of Sonic the Hedgehog (2020):
Sonic the Hedgehog is an absolute delight! From start to finish, the movie had me smiling like a kid rediscovering their favorite video game character. Sonic’s vibrant personality, quick wit, and energy (which might just stem from some relatable ADHD tendencies) make him irresistibly endearing.
The animation is a standout, bringing Sonic to life in a way that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The attention to detail is impressive, and Sonic’s iconic speed and charm are perfectly captured. The story itself is well-crafted—yes, there are a few silly plot moments, but they only add to the movie's playful and adventurous vibe. The ending sequence, with its game-inspired visuals, is a perfect nod to fans of the franchise.
It's a fun, heartwarming, and beautifully animated film that Sega nailed. Watching this movie was pure joy, and it’s easy to see why it resonates with so many. If you haven’t seen it yet, you're missing out on one of the best adaptations of a video game character to date. I can’t wait to dive into Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and will definitely be catching Sonic 3 in theaters!
