The single star is for the gorgeous winter scenery and the dog. Story, dialog and acting were formulaic and bad. I gave up after the first hour.

Two thoughts come to mind after watching this compelling, harrowing docudrama. 1. No wonder so many in rural America distrust the approval process for the Covid vaccine! 2. Why are no members of the Sackler family serving time in prison?

If you like Hallmark movies, you'll love Virgin River! The scenery is almost worth the time. Had it not been for the pandemic quarantine, I'd have never made it to the end of season 2. While a couple of storylines ring true (Paige as a runaway abused wife, and veterans with adjustment issues), there is a lot of high drama for a small, out of the way town. Some of the characters just don't act like real people (Hope and Doc, Muriel, Connie), others can't decide if they're heroes or villains (Lizzie, Brady, especially Charmaine whose svelte figure belies the idea of her carrying twins). Whether I tune in to season 3 will be dependent on how much else is going on in the real world.
