I’m 55 (from NoVA Williard, Katie, Hoda ❤️), the Today Show has been a presence for as long as I can remember. Somewhere the formula changed, less news, more entertainment centered - I learned to watch the first 20 minutes and skip the rest. I care for my mother now and NBC is on 24 hrs a day now. Watching during the holidays, ugh… what to say? There are a few interesting/helpful topics- like how to get along with others.
The food segments!! I can’t tell how many times I walk away, especially around the holidays. If the planet is responding to human exploitation, commonly referred to as climate change, and this network does seem quite biased, how do you justify the overwhelming number of segments focused on meat consumption?! You are squandering an opportunity to demonstrate how a vegan lifestyle is not only healthier, but also kinder on the planet and avoids the slaughter of literally billions of lives yearly. The turkeys- 46 million heads roll for Thanksgiving Day alone! I don’t know the number for annual slaughter. White sugar isn’t vegan, neither is most toilet paper, paper towels, or soaps. I’m just learning these things and I’m not getting it from NBC anything. Please consider more of these segments, I think it aligns with your agenda. Education and awareness are everything. Cancers, diabetes, heart conditions, most autoimmune diseases, dementia, Alzheimer’s, DMA, any of these and more show causation linked to the American diet being heavy in meats, processed foods, and unhealthy fats. Do you cover these topics? Yes, at times. Perhaps reporting on the vile conditions in the mass factory pipeline, the psychological impact on many of its workers, the lifecycle of the livestock and the conditions in which they live, recipe segments demonstrating vegan meal prep, and vegan consumer options. “Societies are judged on their treatment of animals” - Ghandi (?). Networks have opportunities to be “the change you want to see in the world” - I’m challenging you folks to be brave and find yourselves closer in line with your own agenda. In this regard, Joy Bauer is your brightest shining star! Peace be with you. 🌱
While I’m not a huge fan of Dr. Oz, he does tell us to look at the grocery store as a pharmacy. We “are what we eat” is so very true.
