Micheal C Hall! A.K.A โDexterโ
So Iโve read almost all of the โworthy and acclaimedโ critics reviews of this show and one reoccurring criticism is that of Michael C Hallโs โquestionableโ accent.
As a born and bred Brit, Iโm quite miffed by the negativity that Mr Hallโs said โaccentโ has received.
I have witnessed fantastic and world renowned British actors that have done worse with British accents than that of Mr Halls efforts. True story!
You have to consider for a moment Mr Halls birthplace and the very distinctive โaccentโ that is common to that part of the States. And I challenge anyone that is unaware of his roots to discover any of his โnative tongueโ within his characters British accent.
Bottom line is, if you were British watching this show, didnโt know or had never heard of him, youโre only burning niggle with this show would be trying to work out what natural British accent this actor had. And thatโs not enough to warrant the negative response thatโs been associated with the series.
As a former member of Her Majestyโs (may she rest in peace) armed forces, Iโve been around many soldiers and their children that are constantly on the move from north to south, east to west and in doing so have lost their birthplace accents and as such developed accents that are indistinguishable to any city or region.
With that in mind, and in a nutshell, he did a blinding job, the show is great, if you know him please watch it with an open mind, donโt get caught up on the dialect, fully invest and you will be rewarded with a quality short series.
