I think the only thing stopping me from giving this book 5 stars stems from my insecurities as a reader. This is one of the more difficult reads I’ve faced in a while, yet I think it was meant to be that way. It’s truly hilarious, set in a timeless world and space, and I felt like I was on an acid trip as I read most of the passages. It’s almost as if each chapter is its own short story that somehow ties together in the end. The chronology of the chapters was frustrating at times, but I think it was all part of Owen’s plan. It really is nothing like I’ve ever read, and it satisfied me like Double Feature did from a weirdness standpoint. If you’re up for the challenge, the dreamlike qualities, and the intermittent moments of ultra violence and hilarity, you must read this book.
