I attended the Batman at the odeon in Lincoln on 15th of March, and I was overwhelmed by how well thought out this movie was, every scene was relevant to the movie despite its long run time of 3 hours.
Every scene was beautifully shot, colours, angles and script were almost perfect, I would argue a couple scenes were too dark.
Lots of scenes felt it was shot from Batmans POV which added a new level of intimacy to the Batman we’ve never known before.
This Batman was like a breath of fresh air, it focused much more on his emotions and unhappiness discovering truths he had never known which I thought was a lovely touch.
There was one scene which I thought was incredible, without giving too much away, towards the end Batman leads out a group of people holding a flare, the colours, pace and beauty of the scene was excelling and will stick with me for a long while, I hope to take some inspiration as an aspiring director.
The pacing of the movie was simply perfect, it felt every fight scene would come at the perfect time, followed by great dialogue and chemistry between characters, specifically between the Cop and Batman.
One final thing I want to mention was the soundtrack, it was one of my favourite soundtracks ever, despite it being produced by Michael Giaachino (one of my favourite soundtrack artists) it still exceeded expectations, it kept the movie at this melodic, calm tone and made it even more cool to watch.
The only negatives I have is the sound of the action scenes, I felt there were too many silences, and the punches and kicks lacked oomph, and volume. I don’t know if that was in the directors intentions, but personally I think it would have worked better louder.
Being an avid Batman fan, it was a drastic switch from the others, but I think it did it very well.
