William Bell – Google

My wife and I enjoyed 1st episode. I like the blurry-ish, gauzy cinematography that looks kinda horror movie-like…I think. The rather preposterous premise of how it gets started didn’t impress. I like the run-down facility. Although, they are much quicker with the Ativan injections on The Resident. Well, with The Good Doctor over and nearly done with Resident, we are open to a new medical show. I guess it’s made for TV watchers like me and my wife (both in our sixties). We streamed it on Peacock same night. Hope it lasts more than one season.

I will review the show, not the case: Great period-piece with the right clothes, cars, tech and furnishings of the era. Actors are all good. Dominick Dunne part too big as I do not recall him being a major player in case back then. Leslie Abramson actress a little over the top. Show breaks what should be a continuos scene i. e. the Calabasas robbery into too many pieces spread out. The show may provide too many potential explanations and points of view to make a clear decision- were they abused or not? They use so many techniques in the show, flashbacks, single camera docu-style, comedic scenes, that the tone feels unpredictable. I still like it and it caused me to look up facts about the real case. I’ve seen 7 episodes. As far as the real case, I can still only ask: “Why didn’t the boys just move out, instead?”

Visually stunning way to exhibit Sphere’s technological prowess- there are smells, rumbling seats, wind during the film. The nature and humankind shots are incredible but the straight lines and other objects in the images do bend with the curve of the dome, at least it did from my section 304 seats. Didn’t bother me. Plot is a nothing buger with a bleak message that most will predict coming early-on. Otherwise, I loved it. Kids may be bored

Was new and groundbreaking pre-COVID. Now, the latest season is too “after school special” with cliched writing, teens and twenty somethings in same-sex relationships but there is no sex or edge to it. There’s nothing here. Boring. The similar show “Special” has an actual young, disabled person playing his own gay self and showed us his adventures with exploring his sexuality abd living in a “normie” world and his mom had a full range of believeable emotions. If only “Atypical” had any of that. Weren’t there any actors who actually have ASD who could have lent some truth to this pedestrian relic?

Four episodes in. Kinda dull, reach exceeds its grasp, there are always logic issues with supernatural powers and plenty are here. The office scenes accurately capture the death of ambition, dedication, and skill in completely boring desk jobs. No one except satan is notably attractive so, less distractions in that regard. Funny at times but some lame jokes. Too many body function bathroom jokes. Feels like it wants audience to trust that the show knows where it’s going except it’s navigation app malfunctioned at the end of the block and we’re all lost on the road with it now. I can’t see this returning for a season 2, but, I’ll watch the 8 we were given.

As one reviewer here noted, it WAS like a very long Saturday Night Live sketch- it had stiff writing, no characters the audience could care about, and was about as subtle and focused in its social commentary as SNL’s Roseanne Roseannna Danna. It was too broad with too many short, quick scenes and longer ones that were unnecessary and boring. In that way, it is perfect for the attention span of the Instagram/TikTok generation. I love satire, and stories about Armageddon, politics, and science fiction and, unlike the amateurish, snarky obviousness of this film’s writers, I hold no strong views toward one political party or the other. I hated this gigantic mess. Maybe it was purposely designed to be terrible? In that case, mission accomplished.
