Ok. Look. I know about all the bad review copypastas from students have to read this. I'm from there too. I didnt know this was an actual book, but after looking it up I'm just surprised this is an actual published book. It's just that.. well Ana doesnt really have any real problems. She complains about her parents being poor, and most of her problems with other people she makes by herself. What is Ana's character motivation? To force her poor family to buy her Calvin Klein??? I just think that while this does technically go into the waters of discussing poverty, its just so shallow that it shines little to no light on the subject. Not the worst book, but Ana's character is just so "half complete". Also can I just say, with the fact that this book is most commonly used for English learners learning Spanish, the book is misleading in the fact that it presents the entire book in Spanish, Ana speaking it in the text, only for it to show later that she does not know Spanish and lives in CA, despite the entire book being in Spanish. Just a thought. 1 star.
