(Can’t spoil a plot that is non existent)
Riding massively on Tony Scott’s amazing Top Gun, this (maverick) clumsy lazy patchwork of nostalgia and romance and reconciliation was so lightly skimmed that it was pointless and in parts awkward. The impossible mission (against enemies unknown or developed within the story) that they all had to do even though the training time got cut, ended up being not that difficult and lacked any jeopardy whatsoever, they all made it. To me this was just a film that wanted impressive photography of planes and would do anything to make that happen even if it had to lie to the audience and say it was all ‘real’. If that’s what you’re after I’d recommend an air show, but if your after a good film with character development and and a plot look elsewhere!
