I'm an appreciative viewer of Channel 4 News - and I almost never disagree with its reporting - but how can the HSBC Global Head of Sustainable Finance be included in a piece on the Climate Emergency (Friday 11 Dec) when HSBC is the second largest investor in fossil fuels in Europe and a major investor in fossil fuel projects around the world? Nothing was mentioned about HSBC's track record in this area. Since the Paris agreement in 2015 to combat climate change and limit carbon emissions, HSBC have invested a total of $87 billion in fossil fuels including a total of $27 billion in 2019.
I hope Channel 4 news will do a piece on the contribution of banks, pension companies and other investment funds who are failing to divest from fossil fuel projects - and pretending to care about sustainability. Channel 4 news should not be supporting green washing such as this,
