Truly awesome! Mortal Kombat was a love letter to the fans of the game franchise, and while there will always be a place in my heart for the 1995 film, THIS one really honored the source material so much that even the parts that they changed from the source material still felt natural.
I wasn't sure I was gonna like the introduction of Cole Young, but it was a brilliant move. The studio demanded this new character, and it could have gone badly if writer Greg Russo, and director Simon McQuoid didn't care so much for the lore. But they did care! And they took what could have been a dud of a character, and brilliantly wove him into the lore in a satisfying way that made me glad he was created!
My only minor complaint would be that it wasn't long enough. I wanted more! But the way they set it up for a sequel made me more than happy enough to forgive the short runtime.
