This is my favorite romance anime. They take it very slow in developing the relationship between Nagatoro and Senpai. The MC struggles with confidence while Nagatoro struggles with displaying her emotions. They both grow as individual characters while contributing to each other's development.
Now there are definitely some goofy, unrealistic moments that are clearly played for laughs a lot of the time. Also, Nagatoro and Senpai are the only characters that actually matter. Every event or other character serves just to further those two's relationship.
But both of these downsides I actually ended up enjoying a lot, so keep an open mind. As long as you invest yourself in the relationship you'll get a lovely pay-off from every awkward, "high school love" interaction.
