This is a weird but weighty emotional story, lifted by its slightly surreal and slow-burn cinematography. It draws you into all of the blue skies and summer landscapes, and I feel the healing process that the characters undergo. As dramas go, this is like going on holiday.
The characters resonate with me more now that I have more life experience and can relate to more of it, far more than when I first saw this movie. The visuals brought me back - they stuck in my head years later. It all comes together to create an experience that no other movie has matched so far: what it feels like to have past trauma that has healed to the point where it's not really trauma anymore, just part of who you are, half-remembered.
