If you are a strict history buff then ignore this movie. However if you just want to watch a very good film with real battle actions and not just bad cgi then watch this. It's more a ripping yarn, boys own adventure with glorious scenery and is well suited to watch on the big screen. It highlights really well Napoleon's addiction to the awful Josephine and the influence his family and his mother had on his actions and the constant pressure to 'get on'. I thought the battle scenes reminded me of Kingdom of Heaven and then remembered that Ridley Scott made that film also. I for one thoroughly enjoyed this, even though as an historian I know it's less than historically accurate.Remember, it's just a movie and not an historical documentary so go just go and enjoy.
