I must agree with Helen and Andy Travel. I saw the opening credits and immediately felt a discordant echo of what was to come. I tried to maintain an open mind beyond the intro and thought my fears were for naught. I love much of Taika's work .. but his final products are often hit or miss with an audience. It opens up really well. The despondent tone of the parents is slightly hyperbolic but does a great job of building the comedic tone & establishing the skill and craft of the main protagonist. The actor playing him is truly gifted for one so young. It begins to fall apart when the other cast members enter the picture. Largely I think because Lisa kudrow is not ideal to lead the group. Her style amd brand of comedy is a awkward brand with slightly off comedic timing. It's great in many roles, but in this situation it falls flat with the source. I made it to episode three and am seeing more than a bit of potential, I've just developed a cringe when I see Kudrows character bc it doesn't add to the overall vibe. Perhaps someone a bit better versed in film critique can articulate the problem a bit better than me. The show is good... and would probably serve anyone unfamiliar with the OG.. My own preconceptions & expectation for this to be some homage to the great creators of Monty python is ultimately what led to my disappointment.
