Great movie with a high level of suspense. Burt Lancaster is not one of my favourite actors but in this his performance is fantastic. The black and white filming also added to the whole brilliant experience.

What a wonderful story stunningly put together in two parts. My heart aches for the relationship taking place just after the war. The acting is superb - marvellous casting. I can watch this movie over and over and still enjoy it.
