Agatha Hinman

Beautifully written. Her sentences are full of surprises—the imagery, the descriptions and contradictions of the characters, the slipperiness of memory. I was entranced with her voice. However, in the middle I started to wonder if it was going anywhere. I wanted some forward motion. And it comes as reader realizes she’s working towards something, toward facing the events that shaped her family.
