Finally, there is an intelligent film that treats some true problems in American society. Some issues such as racism are often discussed, but not addressed as well as in this film which uses humor and sensitivity. Other issues that are not so frequently discussed are the place of literature in education and society and the lack of interest in reading that takes time to absorb and understand. The acting is superb! It is also a pleasure to have a story focus on a well-to-do professionally successful black family.
