I am seeing a lot of 5 star reviews claiming this show really does a good job of “following the books”. I have to assume this to be trolling as anyone that has read the books can attest to the fact only follows the books in the absolute loosest sense. If you like the show and want to give a 5 star’ by all means do. But as someone who has read the entire series more than 10 times and individual books in the series up to 25 times (3 year release date between books meant I would reread the whole series before each release starting with book 3)’, I can tell you that the TV show has little to do with the story as written. This series is “what Jude Rafkins” would do. And Jude’s writing and storytelling is not on par with the material he is drawing from. Do not let this show deter from the books. The novels are smart’ huge in their world building and character development and do not reflect the choppy story telliing’, bland homogenous world soap opera that this series is. The character motivations make sense and you see the characters grow. If you enjoy the series, great, But no honest book fan, no matter much they love the show, can claim it follows the book. The books are far better than this series and deserve better.
