Genuinely a terrible read. This novel is written from perspective to perspective as the thoughts of all the different characters along the way. However, Willian Faulkner’s inability to detail anything bleeds into the characters, as these are their own thoughts. As such, many of the characters feel incomprehensible and unbelievable due to them never seeming to mention anything happening around them, and the novel is chock full of run on sentences comprised of a jumble of improperly utilized ambiguous pronouns and conjunctions, leading to a reading experience that can only be described as frustrating, trying to figure out if you keep re-reading a sentence or if that’s just how it was written. In addition to the writing being illegible, and the characters being nonsensical, Faulkner fails to even deliver a compelling story. Most major events are never even implied anywhere by any characters, leading to confusion when they are later brought up. Overall, this novel is an insult to literature as a medium, and I would highly advise against reading if you value your time and intelligence.
