Watched it twice. I can see why some people rated it low. You can take nope for what it shows you (literal sense). That's however not how Jordan Peele operates. If you pay attention to the dialogues which may seem like throwaway banter, you will likely miss the metaphor. Its a lot to consume. I couldn't really piece it all together whilst watching . I was thinking about it after my viewing and there were two to three themes that was symbolized. Rewatch affirmed that belief. I don't the movie is for everyone as it is very metaphorical, requires close attention (which can be hard to give, given run time and pacing). It's a scifimovie at face but there is erasure and exploitation by the entertainment industry at it's core. It will make you think and reflect and do it all with such cinematographic excellence and brilliant acting

I was a little disappointed when I first watched the show. The first few episodes weren't funny. It felt like they weren't doing justice to the actors and I stopped watching it . A few days ago when I was stuck inside with the heat wave, I started watching it again and I was delighted that the show got it's footing in episode 5 .the rest of the season was funny. Am watching season 2, and the show continues to deliver. So it does seem like they were figuring it out themselves and now get what works. There are always Easter eggs and lot of cultural references that I enjoy. The social commentary is always something I look forward to in shows and this one delivers

Are we stuck in the 90's because this show ain't it. To see a show with representation with latin actors go to a waste is just really upsetting. The plot is meh, the writing is so contrived and almost feels like the writers put no effort. I can't shake the feeling that they have predominantly male writers because come on now vilifying Vanessa is just not it. Why would you write a character of a strong independent woman and then user her to be the joke and cast aside by her boyfriend. It was really disappointing to see how he hours after breaking up was pursuing another woman. I get it messy situations happen in real life and I wouldn't be shocked to know someone pull something off like this but common now can we not have a romcom built around characters who are complex but not complete tools? After 1.5 episode I am just over it. It was just so predictable, wasn't amusing and I couldn't not digest the character they had written out for Vanessa. The only thing I thought was progressive was the portrayal of Natalie and her sexuality and how she is trying to come to terms with it while wanting to let her family know.
