Extremely lazy writing and poor plot development. Inconsistent plot twists. The source material was fine the way it was. This was more "inspired by" Stephen King's It. Even beyond the fact that it completely mangled the story -- and I realize SK signed off on it -- the ending was weak, flimsy, and uninspired. Ironically, they made fun of Bill throughout the movie for not giving happy endings to his book, then they tried to shoehorn a falsely cheerful and unneeded happy ending to the movie. Appallingly bad. Avoid.
