A thinly veiled political screed masquerading as a novel.

Solid James Ellroy novel. If you enjoy his staccato style, then you'll love this one. Much more accessible than his narrative style in "White Jazz". A pleasure to read. If you're reading this, you already know the novel gives a backstory to the characters in this series. No sense in summarizing it.

Accessible and easy to read. Classic Ellroy. If you know, you know what you are getting into. If you don't know, start with "American Tabloid". Nice follow up to Perfidia. Ellroy is a master. Stop crying about his style.

An acceptable simulacrum if you've finished all of the Parker novels by Richard Stark/Donald Westlake.
