I'd heard wonderful NPR interviews during the roll out. Bought it and finally had time to read it this year. These are reading moments I won't get back. This story was not compelling. Seems like those who listened to the audiobook had clearly, a different experience. This critique comes on the heels of me reading Demon Copperhead, by Kingsolver. I'll give Bel Canto a go though - looking forward to it!

Can't wait to view this. My future son in law is stationed out of Norfolk. He's on a ship. The NPR radio coverage of this story has been excellent. They've followed for months. Excellent reporting. It makes me wonder how pervasive maintenance issues fueled by budgetary constraints are. We have some very rich politicians due to military contracts.
