this show is gibberish. it has no soul, it just rides the watchmen coat tails. it vastly, unapologetically changes the entire history of the comic. it makes up random race war events that were never even remotely associated with this series. it's actually impossible for the events of the comic, and this show to exist in the same universe. they put arbitrary limitations on Dr Manhattan's powers that don't exist. they say he can't be on earth because he's on mars, but he can exist many places at the same time so that means nothing. it says he can't change his appearance, but he can. at the request of the talk show producer, right before he goes to mars he changes his color and glow to be more visable to the cameras. it may have been a good show on it's own, but it has no logical place in the watchmen universe. the flashbacks don't say what year, or place they are happening, and there is not enough detail in the acting or sets to determine if it's 1920 or 1950. the event happening in one of those decades vs the others can change the importance and meaning of the flashback A LOT. there is music on the show that would have never been created if the shows events took place, which completely ruins the shows ambiance. the action scenes are pretty bad. the villains hold the trigger down, spraying bullets wildly in every direction without ever hitting anybody, and then become astonishingly accurate the second the hero makes it to cover. the protagonist will chase a henchman down instead of shooting him, just to start a hand to hand deathmatch of two people fighting over one gun. I don't get it. the show seems like it would be confusing if you didn't read the comic, but if you read the comic then you'll realize how ridiculous this show is even more so. who exactly is this show for? nowhere near hbo's usual level of quality.
