I was really excited about this game, especially with how much I enjoyed Mafia 2. For the most part, I enjoyed the story and completing the game, but that was pretty much it. The graphics were only ok for me.
The missions themselves are pretty repetitive, but I loved the southern, 60’s theme they went with. Unfortunately, the game is buggy and glitchy. On the plus side, the achievements/trophies aren’t grind-y. The shooting mechanics feel clunky, and they only seem to get worse with, or without the aim assist. The computer AI are challenging, and I was happy about that, but because of the shooting mechanics, the game just gets frustrating. Also, it seems like the AI takes 10 shots to the body to die, while you take two and then are dead.
As far as the driving, it feels a little clunky as well, but it’s also set in the 60’s so I can only imagine they tried recreating driving in those times. The one thing I find to be ridiculous with the driving is when you’re going “90-120 mph” you’re not speeding past traffic. They all seem to be going only slightly slower than you. I highly doubt everyone was driving around at 90 mph during those times. Seems like they overlooked that one when making this game.
I’ll be finishing this one and not looking back.
