I have read Little Women many, many times and was initially surprised by the flashbacks. However, having also seen every movie version of Louisa May Alcott’s novel, I think this is the definitive version. The acting was incredible. Saoirse Ronan was perfection as Jo March. She inhabited the role with a completeness that was astonishing. The entire cast shone. Every character was well rounded and fully realized. Greta Gerwig’s version captures and communicates the emotional truth and youthful joy and energy of the source material. Brava ladies—-this movie has classic written all over it. I absolutely loved it.
