I’ve never left a review on a show or movie before, but felt compelled to leave one about Maid. This show did an excellent job of bringing emotional abuse to light— which most people have experienced. There’s always a comparison of abuse, especially physical abuse, for some reason… as if an award should go out for “who has been through worse.” There’s always the inevitable “as a survivor this is what I would do,” however, not all victims respond in similar ways. Abuse is abuse. This is what it looks like for many, and everyone handles it differently. I think the intended message went right over some heads, but most viewers seem to understand the portrayal here. Brilliant acting on everyone’s part— each character was likable… you could really see and feel their different internal struggles. I cried at least once, during every episode. There were so many relatable moments— it really tugs at your heartstrings.
