I love reading the 1 star reviews for this movie. "It's depressing", "why is he selfish", "why doesn't he go home", "his parents care for him", "his sister didn't deserve to suffer". Yea, that's why this story is important, think about it, his sister wrote the book, she helped in the production of the movie. The purpose is to create hesitation for those questioning their own lives in a way that can only be produced through profound meaning. Maybe that's just a bunch of word salad to you, but his story isn't made for those who cannot understand what that word salad means. It's not for you, that doesn't make it a bad movie, and it doesn't make you wrong to dislike it. 5 stars for content, zero bias, all based on the overall morals the movie attempts to provide.
