It is a lot like the previous games. However, I noticed that this one gets harder progressively much more than the other games. Either that or I just suck at the game, who knows? I would say that the plot for Hong Kong was not as good or as memorable as S:R or S:D, but the characters felt more genuine. I really didn't like that you are forced into doing missions that are usually not related to the storyline and you only get information or details for the main storyline between every 2 missions or so. You also barely get paid for each mission which slightly adds to the difficulty, I swear that with every mission I got paid less and less even if the mission took longer or was harder. It is still worth the price and time to play this game. I still prefer S:D though, maybe because it was my introduction to the series and helped me survive through my freshmen year.
