I was so hoping that Samuel Jackson would save the day, save this movie, but my hopes were dashed by the very unsatisfying ending. It could have been so much better, but unfortunately this film was made merely for titillation purposes, to fans of gore. Not worth your time.

Wow! Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are at the top of their game in this knock- out ( no pun intended) of a film. This was the best outing for acting for "The Rock"'. Terrific, exciting story shot in a way that made you believe you were in the '90's. Never predictable, just a good, honest tale told brilliantly. The pacing was so good, you didn't notice the 123 minute run time. This is a must- see.

I went into this movie- yes, I "went into" it- wanting to be amazed and moved and inspired, and that almost happened. Intrigued by the "door" concept, I kept wishing there were more doors and less exposition about what was behind those doors: to talk about a life experience and then to see it happen was repetitive and dragged the narrative down. Additionally, it was uneven: Colin Farrell 's character was fifteen when he went back to his old high school, but Margot Robbie's was forty? And why did we have to guess the identity man holding the teddy bear and the balloons waiting to hear about his sick newborn son? There was too little expression on his grown up son's face to make that scene work. And of course the two main characters had to fall in love, but for what reasons? Sentimentality? That, I suspect, is the underlying reason for many marriages and ultimately their demise. I left the theatre feeling that it could have been so much better. But it was great to see two superb actors do their thing. Their performances were just so good.

I gave this mess- terpiece one star because of Benicio del Toro, who is always great. However, even a skilled actor like him couldn't save this disorganized compilation of farces on top of farces, cliches on top of cliches. I fell asleep three times. The best part of this movie was writing this review ON THE WAY HOME. Don't waste your time or your money.

I walked into the theatre with high hopes that I would have an evening of light- hearted fun, but I wound up squirming in my seat wishing the credits would hurry up and roll. At the beginning of The Naked Gun, I laughed plenty, but later on the slapstick, corn, and spoof of the film lurched into a surdity and then down right stupidity. Liam Nelson, a fine and respected actor, should have saved his reputation and passed on this role. He really and truly acted his socks off, as did a very gracefully aging Pamela Anderson, but NOTHING could save this film. So many double entendres- did they choose Liam Nelson because he has the same initials as Leslie Nielson? - but we were overwhelmed by the non- stop buffoonery. It was kind of like watching Sir John Gielgud perform in a Three Stooges .movie. 'Way too over- the- top campy for my taste, a waste of obvious talent.

Even though more than the average number of seats were sold for yesterday's 6 p.m. show, there was no one applauding when the good guys finally won. Here's why. When you go to see a superheroes movie, you want to see super stuff, not the torture and humiliation of a legend. You don't want to watch scene after scene of sheer cruelty and degradation. Neither do you want to see the weaker, more human side of a superhero. When you do, he's no longer a superhero. I gave this film two stars for the acting, which was good, but no more. Superheroes need to be super, not mere mortals dressed in capes, with a couple of special affects thrown in. Disappointing.

I guess I'll just have to bump off one of my favourite films from my top ten list to make room for this one. Original- must have been lifted from police or FBI files- and chock full of suspense the whole way. This is a must- see.

Gerard Butler always comes through in any role he plays. He was 100% convincing as a Viking warrior, what with his strong Scottish accent and bulked- up frame. However, he was wasted in this role. This entire film was an movie with a not- so- subtle hint at making friends with your enemies, sharing resources as well as land. DOESN'T.WORK.THAT.WAY. One- hundred percent predictability in every scene, plus that young boy's name, Hiccup. Seriously? If you're a diehard Gerard Butler fan, go see this movie, although you won't literally see much of Gerard, being hidden by those ridiculous false, shaggy eyebrows; long, never- been- combed- or- washed even shaggier wig, and that huge fur cape meant to give him the illusion of more girth, plus facial add- ons. Poor Gerard deserves a better outing than this one. He's an A- 1 action hero, with a commanding presence matched by his baritone voice, but this film made a mockery of his entire career. I hope they paid him well.

Spoiler alert! One hundred percent predictable, but that's just part of the franchise. The good guy has to lose,get hurt, train hard, almost lose, and then win. In the meantime he gets a pretty girlfriend and wins over his reluctant mother. But, we all enjoyed seeing it happen. And Jackie Chan, at age 71, still has some moves! Go see it and have fun! .

If you don't go to see this movie, you'll miss out on one of the great filmdom experiences of a lifetime. This is topnotch entertainment that was meant to be watched in the dark of a movie theatre with Dolby(?) sound. Nonstop action and suspense belies the almost three- hour running time, with all the plot twist and story lines that only the Mission Impossible franchise can pull off. Everything works together in this film: locations, music, costuming, the nail- biting stunts, special effects, and, last but not least, the acting. This film has it all. I didn't know "they" still made them this good.
