Amazing! Just wish it ended with a real picture of Rukhsana Amin - the true heroin and the one who made the most sacrifices. Thank you to Khalilur Rehman Qamar for honouring us all by allowing us into his heart - I feel honoured that he shared Shano with us and their love.
I am still watching this over and over again - the most beautiful and touching parts are when they are not speaking but the subtle appreciation they have for one another even in quiet moments are heart wrenching considering that they will never be together.
I applaud the actors who brought Shano and Khalil’s love to life but also the pain, anguish, sorrow and most importantly the joy of falling in love.
I do not understand Urdu and watched this in English subtitles but it does not need you to understand every single word to understand the emotions that this real life story brought to life. I found the village life and 80s setting extremely interesting and especially village life and the fact that it took me into Lahore and Bulgan. Experience so special I hope to travel to Pakistan one day.
As for the actors - I have never watched any movie, serial I can genuinely say I adored all the actors but this is the case with Sadqay Tumhare - everyone played their parts wonderfully - Bhaktiyar, Amin, Lala, the aunts, Anwari, Mulvi Sahib, the inspector, Mushtaq, Faiyaz, Shano’s siblings right down to the postman talkless of the leading roles - all of them well done! Amazing work!
As for the music - I have never listened to Qawal music - at first I thought it was odd but by Episode 3 it was as if the music and the unfolding story became one. Excellent song and lyrics - who of us cannot identify with ‘why am I so restless? Is this pain or is it love’ - unless you’ve never fallen in love and lived your life under a rock you will not be able to empathise with those very first moments when falling in love - for is it pain or is it love. Beautiful - watch it if you’re brave enough to cry!
