I trusted this movie to be something worth watching because of the stellar cast, and sure enough I was hooked within minutes. I cared about the family as I was watching the film and I was rooting for their survival as they encountered various obstacles. I felt this movie addressed many practical elements of what it would mean to be in a post-apocolyptic era, and I felt their journey was realistic. This, for me, is something that distinguished this film from others that have come out recently. Though I could punch entire walls out of the plot of Bird Box, The Silence was unique in its portrayal of how a family would act and evolve in the new world they faced, and again, it was believable!!! The cast was in sync throughout the film and the relationships developed well though the film was relatively short. I would recommend this movie 10/10, and I urge you to ignore the naysayers who posit this is a rip off of A Quiet Place because the novel The Silence was written years prior to John Krasinski’s film!
