I came to know about this film when I was searching for some best family entertainers in Bollywood. I started to watch this film with minimal expectations.
First of all, I would like to appreciate Shakun Batra for presenting a clean family entertainer. Even the concept of gay was handled in a neat manner. Although some scenes were predictable, The scenes were gripping. The screenplay of the film was praiseworthy. The character arcs were in-depth and believable. Each character has their own moments.
But I don't know why they wanted the story to happen in Coonoor which is in Tamil Nadu. It didn't enhance the story in any way. The native connect was missing. This film would have given the same feel if it was taken in Darjeeling. This is a petty issue which can be ignored.
Now coming to performances, Rishi Kapoor as Amarjit Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor as Harsh and Ratna Pathak as Sunita nailed their role to perfection. It was believable to see Fawad Khan and Siddharth Malhotra as brothers. Even they were good at their roles. Alia Bhatt as Tia had limited time-space but delivered a measured performance. The songs unlike being brakes, blend with the film which was an advantage. The cinematography was good and the background score enhances the scene.
Overall, it's a feel-good film which depicts some of our current day family problems. The screenplay is gripping and the characters are believable. This is my take on this film. If you want to watch this film, please watch it on Amazon Prime. I watched it on Amazon Prime.
