A diamond in the battle royale rough of the current gaming mainstream. A decent combat, although clunky at times very fun and hints of cinematography, making it very enjoyable. Variety of weapon types, abilities, classes, and even a moral system make it feel like a classic RPG with a colorful indie touch. There being different breeds, appearances, weapon styles, abilities and the option to choose a dark or light path makes it very replayable and customizable. The story isn’t too complicated and doesn’t feel the most original but not bad either, with there being flashbacks and even a separate kid version you play as. No complaints come to mind, the most fun i’ve had in a video game in months with it reminding me of the early 2000’s Fable and Fable II but much ahead and straightforward while being a tad silly and lighthearted. I think all ages would love it regardless of the cartoonish look, it’s lighthearted yet has a morality system that allows different playstyles of both plot and abilities. 5/5 would recommend to a friend, the only thing holding this game back is the lack of co-op or multiplayer, but solo is at it should be in a rpg. Very simple at it’s core which is what I expected it to be, which makes it very fun and lighthearted, definitely not for everyone. I got the Mercenary(Samurai) class with my Preorder and finding it absolutely amazing. Btw don’t forget to check add-ons and install the Merc class, as it comes separately labeled as a DLC.
Edit: Plus the art is just amazing, the amount of times I just smile while fighting because I think “I look amazing” and stopping to use the photo mode 😅
Edit 2: i’m 15 hours into the game and have only progressed 7% of the story, though this may sound bad, it’s because I havent been doing the story because of how often I get lost in wanting to do this other side quest or loot for more weapons and take over another outpost.. I simply don’t want to finish the main plot, it’s one of those games I find myself not wanting to finish because the experience is something I’m starting to cherish, I don’t want it to end. The map is huge and i’ve still not explored all of it or been able to dive too far into some special secret places that I plan to gear up for. The game is huge and beautiful, while making you feel like you’re constantly getting better and better. I’m beyong glad I bought this game. Critics and reviewers are the same as journalists, out of touch and simply there for big corporations. This was the first game of hopefully many by a small indie team so of course theres room for improvement but it doesn’t stop the game from being remarkably charming and I haven’t stopped having fun and progressing yet. I dont ever 100% games or achievements but this may be one of the ones I do.(Btw change the Narrator to japanese and it’ll probably make you love the feature by a ton, really makes you feel like a Ronin in a kung fu apocalypse)
