Playing on XB1(S):
I wanted to like this game so badly. I went into it a few weeks after the release taking the negative feedback into consideration under the guise of “well if it’s really that buggy I’m sure they’ll patch it. They went on their apology tour and promised patches so I was like alright I’ll get it and if it’s too bad I’ll just wait for the patches.
Too put it simply this game could have been a day one game when the XB1/PS4 were released and that’s giving it some benefit of doubt. Rendering while moving is a huge problem, rendering while switching weapons, characters stuck in the “T” pose, falling through the map, even to the point of voice actors giving the wrong directions in the middle of a mission. I haven’t had these issues since playing GTA IV on XB360/PS3. I’m honestly baffled and don’t want to sound like a douche but come on, really?
So far I have downloaded the released patch which did literally nothing to improve the areas of the game that were needed. The only reason I am not giving the game 1 star is because overall the storyline and characters were interesting and I can enjoy combat/grinding when I can actually play the game.
After remaining patient and battling through my system freezing, the app crashing and countless of other issues I come to find out that the main storyline is a lot shorter than I anticipated, while there is a lot of side quests to kind of make up for it, I was left with a shallow feeling like I wasted my time on a game with not as much substance as I wanted. That’s entirely opinionated of course because that’s up to interpretation of who is playing. Just when we were told that the story is closer to Witcher 3 I expected more.
Take Away: The sky were the limits for this game but because they released an unfinished project it’s best to absolutely wait until 1. All issues are reported as fixed (by players and not the company itself) and 2. The price is lowered due to retailers being overstocked and needing to get rid of product.
