I have been watching 'The good doctor' for a month now. It is a medical drama kind of TV series produced by David Shore. I could get the 3 sessions from Netflix and the 4th is free to access on SeriesTV.
The good doctor is the storyline of a gifted surgeon, Shaun, who is on the ASD spectrum and all kinds of challenges he is dealing with in his personal, social and professional life.
The story begins where Shaun has just applied for the residency in a prestigious hospital in San Jose and then will set in most of the long shots at the surgeon department of San Jose hospital. Although Shaun is the central character, the plot captures the life and career challenges of all surgeon characters at the surgeon department of San Jose.
What is so satisfying and makes it even more well-worth seeing is Shaun's philosophical, ethical and overall his scientific point of view on all kind of social challenges he deals with, besides his non-stop efforts to bring them proper answers. It is adorable when finally his trustworthy and reliable personality attracts his beloved, Lea's attention to him, resulting in starting a committed serious relationship; Such two very opposite personalities, one gifted but autistic, super tidy and committed, and another, very sociable but a mess when it comes to her love/sex affairs. How Shuan exploits his intelligence in managing his relationship is gripping.
The outstanding development of Shaun's character coming along with fully developed characters of other surgeons around his professional life, including all flashbacks to his childhood and bringing the families of other colleagues to the storyline, has made this TV series a smash hit. For instance, while I was being a fan of such a talented autistic doctor since the first episode, have gradually been fallen in love with Claire who is Shaun's colleague, best friend, and support in San Jose hospital.
Moreover, while the nature of the film demands lots of medical drama in places, it has also extremely humorous moments. The music and lyrics in emotional scenes strongly support the plot and the scenes can easily make a bond to the audience's emotions.
Well, the only downside which gets me is the kind of cliche, unusual, not convincing occurrence which is the center of some episodes, that has become something usual in the very long series, to attract an audience and after the 1st session of The good doctor, to some extent, it will deal with it.
Overall, I believe the series is a blockbuster due to its fantastic screenplay, expertly directing, brilliant dialogues, and exceptional performance of all main characters; Specifically, the act of Freddie Highmore as Shaun and Antonia Thomas as Dr.Claire. From the medical point of view, its rich context is absolutely remarkable.
