There are so many war stories not well known because Hollywood has not made them since they did not involve Americans. Narvik puts me in mind of another great movie, The Forgotten Battle about the battle of the Scheldt leading to the liberation of the Netherlands and led by the Canadian military. This was a significant battle opening up an important sea route for the Allies. This movie, as with Narvik, took so long to have a movie made as it did not involve Americans. Just finished watching Narvik and definite thumbs up. Did you know that the battle of Narvik was Hitler's first defeat? That the battle of Narvik was fought on the ground against the Germans by the Norwegian Army with significant support from the French? I did not know. What is also well shown is the compliance the wife of a Norwegian soldier, she is fluent in German and helps the German occupiers. To her she did what she had to do to survive and protect her young son. Once the Germans were kicked out (temporarily), she becomes an outcast from the public for helping the Germans though she says she did what she had to for herself and her son to survive. Very good movie, worth reading the subtitles
