I've been in the remodeling Industry for 40 years and I've been a Contractor in business for myself for the last 17 years. I am A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau, Angie's-List, Home Advisor and Thumbtack. The number one thing that runs through my mind when I watch this show is "that house is worth about $80,000 and he is doing $100,000 worth of work on it.... How is that possible?" The answer is that it can't happen in the real world, it can only happen in the wonderful world of tv. Yes, like all Contractors I do cut corners and don't use top notch materials in order to fit into my Customers budgets. If I didn't cut corners and did use top notch materials, my price would be so high that nobody could afford to hire me and I'd have to go out of business. I mean yeah, if money wasn't an object I could go in and completely rebuild the house on every job I do like Mike Holmes does!!! Yay, lets give Mike a big pat on the back for being such a great Contractor that can do $100,000 jobs for free!!!! Believe me, if those people had to pay the Industry standard pricing for the work Mike does for them then Mike would have no Customers. LOL
