The Sunset Limited is an anti- self-help movie where faith and despair are two divorced islands. Black rescues White from attempted suicide and invites him back to his apartment. There, he tries to persuade him out of his bleak point of view of life. The dialogue that ensues reveals more about the characters' convictions. Cormac McCarthy masterfully portrays the divide between the two in what can only be described as a masterpiece of despair.
