I'm sorry to tell you this, but if you watched the original show and you rated this above 2 stars (which is being generous) there is a 0% chance that you are an intelligent individual.
I understand that the runtime and format is different, but that does not justify the atrocious writing and complete character assassinations that happen left and right.
First rule of quality writing is show don't tell, and this show completely fails at that. For one, the main character is a 12 year old fun loving kid that suddenly has to take on a huge responsibility. That's what they tell you at least. What they show you is a burdened chosen one, dealing with the consequences of his past mistakes.
This type of writing is true of every character, their motivations and development is all wrong and gone. The character bios don't match what we're shown, wise old leaders are suddenly bitter, corrupt, and full of hateful murderous rage.
As for the people using the runtime as an excuse, the difference in runtime between the animated first season and the live action first season is only 44 minutes. That's literally only 2 episodes of the animation that needed to be cut and they could have done a 100% scene for scene retelling.
HOWEVER, they end up cutting out about 6 entire episodes worth of content and absolutely butchering about 6 episodes (at least), while adding nothing new.
The only knew scenes are just poorly adapted plots from the latter two seasons of the animation. They actually literally adapt the penultimate episode of the series and adapt it starting in the very first episode of this atrocious adaptation.
