I feel like this game, as well as the first Monster Hunter Stories game are both great first steps to get gamers who have not played any of the main Monster Hunter franchise games to actually try to get into it, without actually playing any of the main franchise games.
But one thing that really bugs me about this game, are the monsters in this game that can definitely be rideable monsters, but are NOT rideable monsters at all.
The three monsters that I'm talking about, are Duramboros, Plesioth, and Green Plesioth. These three monsters are all in the game, yet players cannot ride them at all. The one thing that this game lacks in, is the amount of water attributed monsters that use either speedy attacks and/or technical attacks; but the game mainly lacks in the amount of water attributed monsters that can use technical attacks. Meaning that if both Plesioth and Green Plesioth were both rideable monsters in the game, the both of them can easily each have the water element, with either one using speed attacks, and the other technical attacks, or the both of them, Regular and Green Plesioth, can both use technical attacks. As for Duramboros, it could've easily been a non-elemental power attacker.
As for their special kinship attacks, the one for both Plesioth and Green Plesioth could've had these two summon multiple pillars of highly pressurized water from the ground, with the both of them surrounding themselves in one, while rushing towards the opponent while still in that highly pressurized pillar of water. For the special kinship attack for Duramboros, it could've started off ramming the opponent with its horns, followed by covering its club tail in some sort of energy, while attacking the opponent with it.
But other than that, the game does introduce a few new monsters, as well as a couple subspecies for a couple of returning monsters for players to choose from.
