This was an incoherent mess of a movie. It canabalizes what was good in the Matrix Trilogy and regurgitates it forth as a steaming hot pile of chewed up nostalgia, terrible acting, forced and empty dialogue, mixed with the lame hackneyed tropes of superhero action movies. The characters seem lifeless and uninspired. The pacing is terrible and even tiring. The story really has nothing new or engaging to offer. The story attempts to present itself as selfaware and sophisticated but really comes off as confused and falls flat. There are a few cool fight scenes and minutes of special effects but definitely not worth the 2hr 28min runtime of the film. Where was the editor for this film? A zombie scene? Really? The meta film industry commentary was simply unnecessary. SMH Less would have been more for this film.
The experience of Resurrections is like rotten left overs covered in sickly sweet neon artificially colored Hollywood syrup sauce topped with LGBTQRSTUV sprinkles, streaming in fresh and incoherent as this run on sentence from the film studio sphincter to overwhelm your sense holes. It may make you nauseas. It could make your brain hurt. Like most pop junk, it's probably not good for you. There should be a warning label attached to the film....
I give a single star because it was fun for a few seconds to see old characters you may have invested in in the trilogy. Also for some snippets of cool CGI scenes.
Like the undead resurrected, Matrix Resurrections lacks a life of its own. It is a rather disappointing and unnecessary appendage to what is otherwise a great movie Trilogy. Better to just end it at Revolutions and let the Matrix series rest in peace.
Save yourself...save your time...I recommend avoiding this movie. Unfortunately, I can't unsee it.
If you are a fan of the Matrix Trilogy and can't help yourself...go in with low expectations.
You've been warned.
