This book will stay with me for the rest of my life.Beautifully written, so descriptive that I could see the colours, and smell the smells.
A mother and her 8-year-old son, travel from Mexico to El Norte, as they escape from a cartel that had brutally murdered 16 members of their family. It describes the horrors of living in a failed state, where the rule of law has broken down, and brutality is the order of the day.
They experience untold horrors, rape, theft, risking death at every step of the way. Once in the USA, they will have to start life as "Illegals" undocumented people. It should be required reading by people like Pauline Hanson and others like her.
