I have just read Sharita Russell’s brilliant novel Original Sinner. Honestly, this is the best book I have read in a very, very long time-maybe even—ever.
Spec Fiction—yes but so much more. It is an adventure, a revenge, a justice, a love story, philosophical explorations, and accurate historical representations.
Will Eve find forgiveness? Will Adam take her back to Eden? Will she be re-united with her wayward son? And what of the charismatic love interest? Each character is meticulously well drawn, and each with a character arc. But, from the first paragraph, you are bonded to the protagonist and her eternal struggle.
The plot is perfectly executed with plot beats that ring like a classical orchestra’s timpani The diabolical fight scenes are powerfully well structured.
The world building is rich in detail and scholastic in its research.
The grammar is perfect and her word choices are eloquent.
Not until the last sentence do you know which of the labyrinthian paths she will take.
This is a masterful work and deserves to be a movie.
Thanks, Sharita, I really, really loved reading this and it is a book I will remember forever.
