tbh I really wanted to like this and was really excited when I heard they were making it.
it should have been a celebration of his life. I am a huge Elvis fan. I've been to Graceland and the Elvis Presley museum a couple times already. my mother listened to elvis all the time growing up.
the one thing that they missed is the fact that there will NEVER be another star of his magnitude. so many artists and musicians looked up to Elvis. and we will never see another star shine so bright in our lifetimes. he created rock n rolll and was an icon and paved the way for so many artists to create and be themselves. he was way ahead of his time.
the only thing I liked about this film is that they FINALLY gave credit to where some of the hits came from.... the black artists. that part was long over do.
the fact that the colonel is narrating is irritating as hell. no Elvis fan even wants to hear about the colonel let alone hear is voice the entire time. we get it!!! he was terrible person.
but to be honest the best parts of his life felt glossed over and it ended in such a dark way!!! him singing when he is all bloated and drugged out? so weird. not a good look.
I just wished they would have focused more on the successes and triumphs rather than his struggles.
the Elvis movie with Jonathan ryes Meyers is still my all time favorite.....if you are an Elvis fan you must see it. it was the first movie that Graceland released the music rights to . this feels much more complete and accurate.
I Also think that it is hard to make a 2hr movie about his life. it needs to be a full season
