Mindy Kaling's best work yet. Seriously. It's about a girl who deals with trauma and grief of her father's death, but in a way that is not anything near cliched or forceful. I've never seen grief dealt with so well before. The perfect blending of comedy (anyone who's seen Kaling's work before knows well how funny her work is), with realness. And it also treats the subject of growing up Indian so so well--better than she has in her previous work, actually, with more subtlety and shades to it. Loved this so much. It had me laughing and crying, and of course had a beautiful romance subplot.
