I throughly believe this movie hoodwinked me. Now it wasn’t that it was more romance than sci-fi, as that’s what I was expecting. However, I was expecting this romance to have the backdrop of a harrowing journey to get the last vessel to the new world, avoiding the dangers of a deadly and constantly changing environment. What I got instead was what I would amount to a bottle episode where two actors who have no chemistry attempt to spark a romance from horrendous writing. And the Deus Ex Machina ending, ughhhhh. That’s my short review, don’t watch this unless you need to fall asleep. Spoiler review, I can tell you immediately when I hated this movie, and I do mean hate. When they delayed their journey yet again because the winds weren’t favorable (not knocking the plot device, just it’s overuse) and I suddenly had the feeling that there was gonna be no trip. I checked the time and realized that the movie was mostly over and THEY HAD NOT EVEN LEFT THE CABIN SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE. The loathe I have for this movie is completely based on the false promises made by the trailer and the beginning of the movie. This is a soap opera with a bit of sci-fi dressing just to check boxes of the genre but not satisfy any avid viewer.
