The last few years have taken a tremendous toll on my mental health. Being made redundant thanks to the pandemic, the months of unemployment, the mental stress… I developed an erratic sleep pattern. Basically I suffer from extreme insomnia, and I rarely get more than 2-3 hours at a stretch.
Thanks to my deteriorating mental health, I find myself reading, watching anything and everything. The countless nights of bad reality tv binges, the hours of unsatisfying TV series… and then came Amazon’s Rings of Power.
What an amazing feat, such a tour de force of elaborate not to mention costly… dullness. One cannot help but marvel at the consistency in blandness in every episode. The sheer effort in cliche acting choices, the uninspiring plot and script devices. Every time one hopes that the storyline will give you a twist, a significant plot turn, the show producers never fail to let you down. Awards should be given out simply for how much has been wasted in resources, time and even careers just to put out something this tedious, monotonous, not to mention drab and just simply boring.
But at last, my insomnia may be cured. For the first time in months, I slept for a good 9 hours. I’m grateful, I really am. I read about how expensive sleep therapy could cost and I never expected Amazon to spend over a billion to help cure mine.
For that one night of good sleep, I thank you, Jeff Bezos. Truly.
