i read the book prior to watching this. okay, with adaptations, you have to give the movie makers some slack because yeah, not everything can fit into a 2-hour thing. but honestly? this movie was underwhelming. the closest word to it is robbed. they robbed the movie of 90% of the plot! kathy and ruth’s relationship in the book was complex. instead, they made it seem one-dimensional and revolving around tommy. tommy, on the other hand, looked mute! lmao. what about their (kathy) dialogues? what about their friendship in hailsham? what about how they looked for the tape in norfolk? and lastly, my god! the way they made ruth and not madame catch sight of kathy dancing to judy bridgewater! what a shame. fellas, if you’re looking for a better story, read the book.
